Northeast Mosquito Control will be performing routine mosquito spraying in the City of Lynn
Please note that there have not been any confirmed West Nile or EEE infected mosquito cases in the City of Lynn this year. This a preventative treatment for mosquito nuisance complaints.
Common sense steps that can be followed in areas where spraying is scheduled include:
If the immediate area of your home is being sprayed, keep windows closed and fans off during the time spraying occurs. Shut off air conditioners unless they have a setting for recirculating indoor air. In very hot weather, make sure you open the windows or turn fans and air conditioners back on soon after the spraying is completed in your immediate area. If you are not sure if your air conditioner can be set to recirculate indoor air, turn it off when spraying is occurring in your immediate area.
Rinse any homegrown fruits and vegetables with water.
Keep pets indoors when spraying is occurring in your immediate area to minimize their risk of exposure. Pets that remain outdoors could be exposed to small amounts of synthetic pyrethroids, but would not be expected to experience adverse health effects from the spraying. Again, there are many pesticide products (e.g., flea collars, pet shampoo, dips) containing pyrethoids that are used directly on pets to control ticks and insects.
If skin or clothes or other items are exposed to the sprayed pesticide, wash with soap and water.
If the spray gets in your eyes, immediately rinse them with water or eye drops, and call your doctor.
Because pyrethoids breaks down quickly in sunlight and water, and considering dilution factors, no special precaution or waiting periods are recommended for outdoor swimming pools or beaches.
What health impacts among the general population can be expected with the spraying of synthetic pyrethoids? Due to the very low concentrations of synthetic pyrethoids used to control mosquitoes during spraying, adverse health effects are not expected.
Have studies been conducted on possible health effects following spraying for mosquito control? Yes. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that when administered properly in a mosquito-control program, insecticides pose a low risk for acute, temporary health effects among persons in areas that are being sprayed and among workers handling and applying insecticides.

The motorcycle ride is scheduled to begin in Revere at 12PM. The procession of motorcycles will then proceed through several communities before entering Lynn. (It is unknown at this time how many motorcycles will be involved but it is believed to be a large contingent). It is expected that they will enter Lynn from Saugus via Rte. 107 (Western Ave.) and proceed through Market Sq. to Commercial St. and then to the Lynnway back to Revere. We are still awaiting final details on the time that the procession will arrive but it will likely be some time in the early afternoon.
The Lynn Fireworks Celebration will be held at Red Rock Park in Lynn every July 3rd. Lois Lane and the Daily Planets will perform from 7 PM until 9 PM at the park.

Fewer parking spaces will be available in the area of Lynn Shore Drive due to the needs of public safety vehicles. Visitors are asked to obey all parking restrictions posted. Residents that are able to walk to the event or park further away are encouraged to do so to help alleviate traffic congestion upon leaving the event.
Traffic will be shut down on Lynn Shore Drive at Nahant Street and into Swampscott on Humphrey Street at 7:30 PM Traffic will not open to motorists until pedestrians have cleared the area. Traffic will be shut down on Ocean Street from New Ocean to Lynn Shore Drive at 6:30 PM

Sweeping operations are conducted from 7 AM to 3 PM. The street sweeping schedule and pertinent information is publicized a week ahead in the daily newspaper posted as indicated above, and on this website.
This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather. Should inclement weather prevent sweepers from working in your area as scheduled, they will return seven (7) days from the date originally scheduled.
Please remove all cars from the street and encourage your neighbors to do the same for a cleaner LYNN. When necessary, any vehicles, which impede sweeping operations, may be ticketed or towed in accordance with city ordinances. Contact the Department of Public Works for additional information at (781) 268-8000
Sidewalks may be swept into the gutter but large piles of leaves and debris will not be acceptable and will not be swept up.
